Returning home. After you yourself have changed but nothing and no one else has. The longer spent home, the more the recent experiences slip into a dream-like state, and they are no longer clear, but symbols. The old pains come back. The old emotions and longing that drowned me before I left to try to start a new life.

The painful numbing returns as you return to your old haunts. You remember what you used to think as you drove through this street, walked around this area, sat on that chair, and cried into this pillow. Emotions, and the state of mind you thought you overcame and let go of forever, return. And you realize that nothing has changed. And you’re still in pain.
